Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed readiness to organize peace talks on Ukraine, including at the level of heads of state, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
According to Fidan, Türkiye’s readiness to host talks was conveyed during Erdoğan’s contacts with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Russian dictator.
“Türkiye is ready to contribute to advancing the peace process in Ukraine at all levels—both technical and leadership. We are prepared to provide a platform for negotiations, ensure the necessary organizational support, and help create conditions for constructive dialogue between the parties,” the minister said.
He also noted that “the situation depends not only on our desire,” but also on the “readiness of the parties.”
Talks between Ukraine and Russia
On April 17, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Zelenskyy is ready to meet with the Russian leader if the presidents of the United States and Türkiye also take part in the talks.
Earlier in April, Erdoğan had already stated that Türkiye is ready to host the next round of peace negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
Recently, US Vice President JD Vance questioned the relevance of "haggling over few square kilometers" in the context of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.
In response, Zelenskyy noted that Vance is not part of the trilateral negotiations and emphasized that one of Russia’s goals remains the occupation of Ukrainian territory.
RBC-Ukraine also previously reported that Kyrylo Budanov said Ukraine would “hear a lot of new things” from Russia in the next round of talks, adding that strikes on Russian terminals are influencing the negotiation process.
