Ukraine is ready for a meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Türkiye, but with the participation of two more presidents, as the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry cites Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
According to the minister, Zelenskyy is ready to meet with the Russian leader if the presidents of the United States, Donald Trump, and Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, also take part in the talks.
“We believe Türkiye can once again serve as a vital platform for a meeting between President Zelenskyy and Putin, with engagement of President Erdogan and possibly President Trump, in order to end the war,” he said.
Ukraine-Russia talks
At the beginning of April, Erdoğan said that his country is ready to host the next round of peace talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
Earlier, Ukraine had already held several rounds of negotiations with Russia. The sides failed to reach an agreement on a ceasefire, as the aggressor country demands the surrender of unoccupied Donbas, which Kyiv does not agree to.
Recently, US Vice President JD Vance, commenting on the negotiation process, questioned the validity of arguing over “a few square kilometers.”
In response to Vance’s words, Zelenskyy reminded that he is not taking part in the trilateral negotiations. The president noted that among the aggressor’s goals is the occupation of Ukrainian territory, and this goal “has always existed in one form or another.”
Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov said that Ukraine will hear "a lot of new things” from the Russians in the next round of negotiations. He emphasized that attacks on Russian terminals affect the negotiation process.
