Attacks on Russian terminals affect the negotiation process. Therefore, Ukraine will hear "a lot of new things" from the Russians at the next round of talks, states the head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, during the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, according to Ukrinform.

"They definitely do. That is quite obvious," said the head of the Office of the President in response to a question about whether strikes on Russia’s oil terminals affect the negotiation process.

He noted that the change in the position of the aggressor state under the influence of these strikes is a "debatable issue."

"At the next talks with them, I think we will hear a lot of new things. In any case, this significantly strengthens our position and does not make it, as they say, weaker," Kyrylo Budanov emphasized.

The head of the Office of the President also noted that Ukraine must do everything to strengthen its position of advantage. He added that "any means to achieve the goal are justified and appropriate."

Peace negotiations regarding Ukraine

Ukraine and Russia have already held several rounds of talks this year. The parties have not been able to agree on a ceasefire itself, as the aggressor state is demanding the surrender of the non-occupied Donbas, which Kyiv does not agree to.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected any exchange of Donbas territory for other regions. He stated that the Kremlin understands it will not be able to hold the border areas, and the moment will come when the Armed Forces of Ukraine will push the occupiers out of there.

The President of Ukraine also noted that during future negotiations it is necessary to agree on a leaders’ meeting, as it is precisely in such a format that a decision on territorial issues can be reached.

Recently, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the United States believes that, despite Washington shifting its focus to the Middle East, the holding of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine is still possible.
