On the night of July 9, drones again attacked two Russian tankers in the Taganrog Bay. Fires broke out aboard both vessels, acting Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar said.

According to him, fires broke out aboard both vessels after they were hit by drones.

The tankers sustained mechanical damage. The crews were evacuated.

The fire on one of the tankers has already been extinguished, while the other continues to burn.

Slyusar also claimed that more than 20 drones were allegedly shot down over the Rostov region during the night. In the Azov district, a fire broke out after drone debris fell.

Attacks on Russian tankers

On the night of July 8, Ukrainian drones attacked two tankers in the Taganrog Bay. Russian authorities reported that two people were injured and that an oil spill had been avoided.

Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian forces had struck six tankers from Russia's shadow fleet. One of them was in the Black Sea, while the other five were in the Sea of Azov. These vessels were used to support the logistics of the Russian forces in southern Ukraine.

At the same time, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces stated that they had struck more than nine tankers from Russia's shadow fleet.

On July 7, Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi (call sign Madyar) reported that two Russian shadow fleet tankers had been hit.

In addition, on the night of July 7, Ukrainian drones struck eight fuel tankers, one cargo ship, and one ferry belonging to Russia's shadow fleet.
