On the night of July 8, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck two oil refineries, 6 tankers, the Borisoglebsk airfield, as well as Russian road bridges, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
One of the targets for the Ukrainian Defense Forces was the Saratov oil refinery in Russia. After the strikes, explosions were heard there, and a fire broke out. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasizes that this refinery is part of the Rosneft group and is also one of the key oil refining enterprises in the Volga region.
Its capacity is approximately 7 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, which are used, in particular, to support the Russian military logistics.
The TAIF-NK oil refinery complex in Nizhnekamsk (Tatarstan) was also targeted. Explosions were also heard at the facility, and a fire broke out. It is one of Russia’s largest oil refining complexes.
The facility’s total capacity exceeds 8 million metric tons of crude oil per year. It produces diesel fuel, gasoline, jet fuel, and other petroleum products used to support the Russian economy and military logistics.
Incidentally, against this backdrop, the Special Operations Forces (SSO) confirmed the destruction of two Russian oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk:
- TANECO oil refinery complex
- TAIF-NK oil refinery.
"TANECO is one of the largest and most modern oil refineries in Russia. The facility has a refining depth of up to 99%," the Special Operations Forces state.
The Ukrainian military struck six tankers belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet. One of them was in the Black Sea, and five others were in the Sea of Azov. These vessels were used to support the logistics of Russian forces in southern Ukraine.
The Borisoglebsk military airfield in the Voronezh region of Russia was also struck. The results of the attack are currently being assessed.
On July 7, road bridges in the Urazovo and Shelayevo districts of the Belgorod region were struck. Russian soldiers were using these structures to transport personnel, weapons, ammunition, and logistical supplies.
Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fighters struck another 9 Russian shadow fleet tankers and caused a partial blackout in Crimea.
Also on July 8, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, summarized the strikes against the Russian army in June and disclosed Russia’s losses.
