Two Russian tankers attacked in Taganrog Bay

On the night of July 8, unidentified drones attacked two tankers in the Taganrog Bay. Russian authorities report that two people were injured, but an oil spill was averted, according to Yuri Slyusar, the acting governor of the Rostov region.
Russia reports attack on 2 tankers
According to Yuri Slyusar, acting governor of the Rostov region, the region came under a large-scale drone attack overnight.
He reported that two tankers heading to Rostov-on-Don were damaged in the Taganrog Bay.
According to the Russian official, both vessels were unloaded, so there was no oil spill. The crew of one of the tankers had to be evacuated. Russian authorities promised to provide more details later regarding the nature of the damage and the consequences.
Casualties
Slyusar states that two people were injured as a result of the attack. One received medical attention on the spot, while the other was taken to a hospital. After being examined, both, according to him, declined hospitalization.
Russia claims dozens of drones were shot down
A Russian government official also stated that air defense forces allegedly destroyed about 70 drones.
According to him, the attack affected 11 districts of the Rostov region, as well as the cities of Novoshakhtinsk and Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, and the waters of the Taganrog Gulf.
However, it is currently impossible to verify the Russian authorities’ claims regarding the number of drones shot down or the circumstances of the attack.
Earlier in the morning of July 8, OSINT communities reported that the TANECO oil refinery complex in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, had been struck.
