Drones attacked large power station in Rostov region, Russia: Fire broke out
Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant in the Rostov region was attacked by drones. A fire broke out, and the power units were put out of order, according to the Telegram channels of the governor of the Rostov region, Vasiliy Golubev, and the Russian service of BBC News.
The Governor of the Rostov region, Vasiliy Golubev, reported that a fire broke out at the transformer substation.
"Last night, a fire broke out at the transformer substation of the Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant, which was promptly extinguished by the station's personnel. There were no casualties. The causes of the fire are being determined," Golubev wrote.
The governor also reported the automatic shutdown of two high-voltage lines and the cessation of operation of two power units at the thermal power plant. 9 power units are operating at the station.
"Due to the fire, two high-voltage lines, 330 kV - Tikhoretsk and Rostov, were automatically disconnected. Currently, the power supply to consumers has been restored. Two power units of the thermal power plant have been temporarily taken out of operation," Golubev said.
Local Telegram channels, citing their subscribers, reported explosions in the area of the Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant, and prior to the explosions, approximately two dozen drones were spotted flying over the region. It is also reported that in some areas, the power was briefly interrupted for several minutes.
Drone attacks on Russia
Earlier, we reported that on March 23, drones attacked four regions of Russia. High-rise buildings and a business center were damaged, and a private house caught fire.
