In Russia, complaints were reported about a drone attack on the Astrakhan gas processing plant, located near the Caspian Sea, approximately 1,675 km from the Ukrainian border.

According to a Russian official, the attack took place on May 13. He claims that all drones were allegedly shot down or neutralized by electronic warfare systems.

"Today, May 13, an AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) UAV attack on the AGPZ was repelled. All enemy aerial vehicles were shot down or neutralized by electronic warfare systems," Babushkin wrote.

At the same time, he admitted that drone debris caused a fire on the plant’s territory. According to Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire is expected to be extinguished within a few hours.

The Russian authorities also stated that there is allegedly no risk of air pollution in Astrakhan, and that there were no fatalities or injuries among the plant’s employees.

The Astrakhan gas processing plant is one of the key enterprises of Russia’s gas industry. It is located near the Caspian Sea and is involved in processing natural gas and gas condensate.

Other long-range Ukrainian strikes

On the night of April 29, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) drones attacked oil infrastructure near Perm. The strike hit a linear production dispatch station that supplies oil to the Perm oil refinery. After the attack, a large fire broke out at the site.

In addition, on the night of May 7, Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez was hit by drones for the second time in eight days.

The following night, on May 8, the SBU announced a third strike — this time targeting the refinery itself and the Perm oil pumping station.
