Drone attacks may intensify soon, says Ukrainian Air Force spokesman

It is possible that Russian forces may increase drone attacks on Ukraine in the near future, according to Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force.
Russian forces may increase their drone attacks on Ukraine in the near future, according to Yurii Ihnat, the spokesman for Ukraine's Air Force.
"If we're seeing new records over three consecutive days, it's safe to say the trend is growing," said Ihnat. "And it's not just combat drones — we're seeing almost half of them being decoy drones, which complicate the air situation for our air defense systems."
Ihnat emphasized that Russian forces are using this tactic to create false targets for Ukrainian defense forces, forcing them to waste valuable resources, including missiles, ammunition, and air defense systems.
Massive Russian attacks on Ukraine
In recent nights, Russia has launched massive air attacks across Ukraine, deploying record numbers of drones and missiles. These strikes have hit areas from the north to the south of the country.
On the night of May 24, Russia carried out a combined assault on Kyiv, using both ballistic missiles and drones. A total of 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 250 attack UAVs were launched across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted six missiles and neutralized 245 drones.
The following night, on May 25, Russian forces attacked 13 Ukrainian regions, using dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles along with approximately 300 drones.
On the night of May 26, Russia launched a record number of attack drones and cruise missiles across Ukrainian territory.
Then, on the night of May 27, the enemy launched 60 drones from five different directions.
