Attacks in the Sumy region
On the night of February 3, Russian forces attacked Sumy and the surrounding region amid a series of coordinated strikes across Ukraine. Among the consequences of the attacks on the regional center were damage to residential buildings and fires, leaving people without heating.
At the same time, the aggressor country carried out massive strikes on combined heat and power plants that provided heating to Ukrainian cities. Russia launched attacks across eight regions using drones and various types of missiles.
In addition, the Russian army targeted the civilian railway infrastructure in the Sumy region for two consecutive days. In Konotop, drone attacks damaged tracks, the station area, the repair shop, and the administrative building of the locomotive depot, causing fires.
RBC-Ukraine also reported that Russian forces are remotely mining roads in the Sumy region using drones, dropping small bags that can be triggered by pressure or proximity.
