Russian troops are remotely mining roads in the Sumy region using drones, dropping small bags, according to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
"Russia continues to use tactics of remote mining of territories. It drops explosive devices in small light bags from drones, which can be triggered by pressure or proximity," Hryhorov says.
According to him, there have been cases of such mining using drones in areas adjacent to the Sumy region.
"I urge residents of the region to be especially careful when traveling on roads, especially near border settlements. If you find suspicious objects, do not approach them and immediately notify the police by calling 102," adds the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Russians use drones for mining
Last week, two anti-tank mines were found near railway tracks in the Rivne region, which Russian drones dropped during the latest air raid alerts.
A similar incident occurred earlier in the Zhytomyr region, where bomb disposal experts also defused PTM-3 anti-tank mines. At that time, Russian drones dropped cluster munitions on the territory of one of the settlements.
In addition, the Russians have begun to equip their Shahed drones with cassettes containing PTM-3 anti-tank mines, which pose a direct threat to civilians.
Experts note that such mines are extremely dangerous due to their sensitive sensors, so they are usually destroyed exclusively at the site of discovery.
