The Czech organization Darek pro Putina (A Gift for Putin) plans to provide Ukrainian defenders not with one Flamingo missile, but two. The funds for them were raised by Czech citizens, Novinky.cz reports.
Initially, the Czech initiative Darek pro Putina launched a fundraiser for a single Flamingo missile, which they intended to name after the well-known scientist Dana Drabova, calling it Dana-1.
"We are negotiating with the Flamingo missile manufacturer, Fire Point. For the agreed 12.5 million CZK (about $595,000), not just one missile named after Dana Drabova will be produced, but two," Martin Ondráček said.
According to him, the second missile will be named Dana-2.
During the Flamingo fundraising campaign, Czech citizens donated a total of 16 million CZK (approximately $758,000), exceeding the initially planned 12.5 million CZK.
Therefore, the organization will allow the public to decide how to use the amount that exceeds the original target.
Fundraising for the Flamingo missile
On October 23, Martin Ondráček, the organizer of the Darek pro Putina initiative, said that Czech citizens had raised about $595,000 in just 48 hours to buy a Flamingo missile for Ukrainian forces.
This missile is one of the latest developments by Ukrainian specialists. It can strike targets up to 3,000 kilometers away and carry over a ton of explosives.
On November 9, The Independent reported that this missile even surpasses American Tomahawk cruise missiles, which US President Donald Trump has so far refused to provide to Ukrainian defenders.
