Croatian Prime Minister: Peace in Ukraine must include plan for reintegrating occupied territories

The future peace in Ukraine must put an end to the killings and include a plan for the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories, said Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the Support Ukraine summit.
Plenković stated that peace should not be seen as a situation where Western partners and Ukraine's allies are forced into a position that contradicts what they have defended over the past years. He emphasized that peace must stop the killings and include a reintegration plan for the occupied territories, calling this a fair approach and the way the EU should focus its efforts.
According to the Croatian Prime Minister, only a strong Ukraine, both economically and militarily, with the joint support of Europe, can guarantee freedom and security for its citizens.
Croatia's support for Ukraine
Since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion, Croatia has supported Ukraine at the diplomatic level, condemning the aggression and joining the European Union's sanctions against Russia. Zagreb provided military assistance by transferring weapons, ammunition, and military equipment to Kyiv. Croatia also provided humanitarian support by hosting Ukrainian refugees and providing them with housing and social assistance.
At the end of January 2025, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Croatia was preparing to allocate a new package of military and technical assistance to Ukraine.
Last October, Ukraine and Croatia signed a bilateral agreement on long-term support and cooperation.
