The Coalition of the Willing held a meeting at the level of armed forces chiefs, with Ukraine participating. The parties discussed implementing security guarantees for Ukraine, according to Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He said the partners discussed formats for implementing security guarantees for Ukraine. The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief emphasized that Russia shows no readiness to end the war and continues its terror against civilians. He stressed that it is now crucial to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and continue strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe as a whole.
"Special attention was paid to the continuation of military assistance to Ukraine as a key prerequisite for maintaining the combat effectiveness of its Defense Forces and their ability to continue inflicting significant losses on the enemy on the battlefield," he noted.
Syrskyi named others who attended the meeting:
-
French Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Fabien Mandon
-
UK Chief of the Defense Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton
-
US European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich
-
Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Sean Clancy.
"I am grateful to our partners for every practical step that brings a just peace for Ukraine and all of Europe closer. Together, we are not only defending borders — we are defending the values on which the free world stands," he concluded.
Talks on peace initiatives: What we know
Ukraine's partners plan to take on actual, binding commitments that would come into force in the event of renewed Russian aggression. These provisions are included in the draft Paris Agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine, but they would only take effect after the war in Ukraine ends.
Further, leaders plan to finalize the security documents, with a focus on security guarantees and Ukraine's recovery, after which consultations in the US are planned with a broader group of countries.
