Ukraine's allies are preparing to take on binding commitments in the event of future aggression from Russia. The relevant provisions are contained in the draft Paris agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine, reports Sky News.

The document specifies that the guarantees provide for support to Ukraine in the event of a new armed attack from Russia.

This includes the possible use of military capabilities, intelligence resources, and logistical assistance, as well as diplomatic measures and additional sanctions against the aggressor.

The draft agreement also provides for the creation of multinational forces for Ukraine to help rebuild the armed forces and serve as a deterrent.

Separately, Paris plans to form a coalition involving the US, Ukraine, and other states willing to join in implementing these guarantees.

Summit in Paris

On January 6, Ukraine's allies are gathering in Paris to agree on their contribution to future security guarantees for Kyiv in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.

The negotiations are part of broader efforts to develop a common position between Ukraine, its European partners, and the US, which may subsequently be presented to the Russian side. One of the key topics will be the possible deployment of foreign military contingents in Ukraine after the establishment of a ceasefire.

Leaders plan to finalize security documents with a focus on security guarantees and Ukraine's recovery, followed by consultations in the US with a wider range of countries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is taking part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing and holding talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the signing of documents that would finally cement the joint US-European position on Ukraine could take place in the coming days, possibly in Washington.
