Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Paris today, January 6, where he will participate in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing and meet with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, France24 reports.

The French President will host Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on the eve of the Coalition of the Willing summit, which will be attended by 35 countries.

The goal of the summit is to demonstrate the rapprochement between Americans and Europeans on security guarantees.

"We have managed to achieve this rapprochement between Ukraine, Europe, and America," says one of Macron's advisers.

35 countries will participate in the summit, 27 of which will be represented by heads of state or government, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. NATO and European Union leaders are also expected to attend.

Background

Ukraine's allies will meet in Paris today, January 6, to define as clearly as possible their contribution to future security guarantees for Kyiv in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.

The agreements are expected to reassure Ukraine and lay the groundwork for further political decisions in the event of a pause in hostilities.

The meeting is part of broader efforts to form a unified position between Ukraine, Europe, and the US, which may subsequently be presented to the Russian side.
