Ahead of the meeting with Trump's team, Ukraine outlined its priorities—peace, security guarantees, and dignified conditions for its conclusion, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
A meeting with the negotiating team took place immediately before the meeting with Trump's envoys. Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine has always been and will remain constructive and interested in bringing the war to a close.

"Peace is needed. Security guarantees are needed. A dignified character of the postwar peace is needed. Our proposals are ready," Zelenskyy states.
The President adds that it is important to work in a coordinated, substantive, and realistic manner.
Zelenskyy announces Trump's envoys' visit to Kyiv in an evening address on September 4. The visit was finalized that same day: Witkoff and Kushner were initially scheduled to visit Moscow and then arrive in Kyiv on Sunday, September 6.
Before arriving in Kyiv, the special envoys held talks with Putin at the Kremlin on September 5. The meeting lasted over three hours.
