Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Gao Jiakun denied any plans to send peacekeepers to Ukraine, emphasizing that the country’s position “is consistent and clear,” Global Times reports on X.

In addition, German media outlet Die Welt noted that diplomatic representatives of some EU countries allegedly stated China’s readiness to participate in an "international peacekeeping force" in Ukraine. This sparked widespread discussion in the media and social networks, with immediate speculation about a potential shift in Beijing’s policy.

According to Guo Jiakun, the relevant reports are not true, and China's position on the Ukrainian crisis is consistent and clear.

Thus, China officially rejected any speculation about sending its military forces to Ukraine.

China and security guarantees

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia had allegedly agreed to security guarantees for Ukraine, but only with China’s participation.

In turn, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine does not consider China a potential security guarantor after the war, since guarantees can only be provided by countries that are actually helping.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded to Zelenskyy’s remarks, stating that Beijing is willing to participate in finding ways to resolve Russia’s war against Ukraine. They added that China’s official position is to refer to Russia’s war in Ukraine as a “crisis in Ukraine.”

Meanwhile, media reports suggest that China is unlikely to provide security guarantees to Ukraine despite Russia’s interest, due to limited resources and reluctance to set a precedent.
