A bridge near Chonhar was reportedly damaged in a drone attack, after which traffic through the Dzhankoi road checkpoint was suspended, according to Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed head of the occupied part of Kherson region.
"Overnight strikes were also carried out on the bridge connecting Henichesk with the Arabat Spit. Traffic on it has been suspended," he said.
Saldo added that the threat of new drone strikes remains, so the extent of the damage will be assessed as soon as operational services give permission.
Strikes on the Chonhar Bridge
The first strike on the Chonhar Bridge took place on June 7. After the attack, traffic across the crossing was restored in a reversible mode.
However, on June 9, the bridge came under drone attack again, causing traffic to be suspended once more. After that, local authorities recommended using alternative routes through Armiansk and Perekop.
Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation stated that after several drone attacks, the Chonhar Bridge was destroyed.
In addition, on the morning of June 10, a bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit was closed in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. It became the second important crossing whose traffic was suspended in recent days following strikes on the Chonhar Bridge.
On the night of June 11, explosions were also reported in occupied Crimea. Local public channels reported fires in Simferopol and Sevastopol, as well as damage to bridges on the land approaches to the peninsula.
On June 13, Russian-installed authorities again reported Ukrainian attacks on bridges leading to Crimea. According to Saldo, drones struck the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit. The structure was later inspected by specialists.
