The Chonhar Bridge, which connects the occupied Crimea with mainland Ukraine, has been destroyed following several drone strikes, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
"The Russian authorities are trying to cover up the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea," his statement reads.
The Chonhar Bridge is the shortest and most convenient route between occupied Crimea and mainland Ukraine. It was through this bridge that Russian troops transported equipment and ammunition from the peninsula to the southern sector of the front.
Alternative routes via Armiansk and Perekop are longer and less convenient from a logistical standpoint.
The first strike on the Chonhar Bridge was carried out on Sunday, June 7. After that, traffic across the bridge was restored in a two-way mode.
However, on June 9, the bridge was attacked again by drones, causing traffic to be suspended once more. Following this, the so-called Russian occupying authorities recommended using alternative routes through Armiansk and Perekop.
In addition, on the morning of June 10, the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit was blocked in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. This is already the second major crossing that the Russians have shut down in recent days, following the Chonhar Bridge.
Russians have restricted the movement of military cargo along the highway between Mariupol and Simferopol due to regular strikes by Ukrainian drones.
Furthermore, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine's drone units continue to disrupt operations along the land corridor between Crimea and Donetsk, striking Russian equipment even deep in the rear.
