During the press conference of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Australia, Andrii Sybiha and Penny Wong, it became known that the Australian diplomatic mission would resume its work, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine informs.

The Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that her country's embassy in Kyiv will resume work in the coming months.

According to her, Australian Ambassador to Ukraine Paul Lehmann will begin his work in January 2025.

“Starting next month, our Ambassador Paul Lehmann, who is here with us, will be working in Kyiv. And in the coming months, our embassy will be fully operational,” Wong said.

She also added that she hopes to return to Ukraine.

“I hope that I can come back here and see a peaceful Ukraine that has overcome the consequences of this war on your own terms,” the Australian Foreign Minister emphasized.

Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Australia and Ukraine

Today, on December 18, it was reported that Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong arrived in Kyiv.

During her visit, she is scheduled to meet and discuss with representatives of the Ukrainian government.

In particular, RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukraine has asked Australia for additional military assistance. The request was for Bushmaster armored vehicles and other weapons.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that the situation on the battlefield remains quite difficult, so the Ukrainian military's need for weapons is urgent.

In addition, Australia announced new aid packages for reconstruction and energy in Ukraine worth about $50 million.
