85 clashes since beginning of day: General Staff reports on current situation on front line
Since the beginning of the day, August 27, there have been 85 combat engagements on the front. Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders on nearly all fronts, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
According to the General Staff, today, the areas around the settlements of Sopych, Bachivsk, Porokhon, Pokrovka, Krasnopillia, Dmytrivka, Sydorivka, Ulanove, and Orlivka were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Additionally, the Russian forces carried out airstrikes with KABs (guided aerial bombs) on Vorozhba, Esman, Vilna Sloboda, Atynske, Horilove, and Bezsalivka.
Situation in the directions
Kharkiv direction: The enemy is storming the defensive positions of our units near Vovchansk. The attack is ongoing. Additionally, the Russian army launched rockets towards Kozacha Lopan.
Kupiansk direction: The enemy conducted 15 offensive actions near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kolisnykivka, and Stelmakhivka. Seven attacks are currently ongoing.
Russian forces also carried out five airstrikes on Senkove, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Synkivka, and Petropavlivka.
Lyman direction: The enemy stormed near Druzheliubivka, Nevske, and Novosadove seven times. Ukrainian defenders skillfully halted the enemy’s advances.
Siversk direction: Defense Forces repelled an attack by the Russian army near Verkhniokamianske.
Kramatorsk direction: The enemy advanced towards Hryhorivka, Andriivka, and Klishchiivka. After six engagements, they were defeated.
Toretsk direction: The invaders attempted nine times to drive our units from their positions near Toretsk and New York, but were unsuccessful.
Pokrovsk direction: The Russian forces carried out 25 assault actions in the areas of the settlements of Sukha Balka, Vozdvyzhenska, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Novooleksandrivka, Mykhailivka, Novohrodivka, and Selidove. Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding off the Russian troops and have repelled 24 attacks, with one battle still ongoing. The enemy's losses in this direction are being clarified.
Kurakhove direction: Russia attacked 11 times. Nine attempts to advance were repelled, and two attacks are ongoing near Karlivka.
Vremivka direction: The enemy unsuccessfully stormed our positions near Vodiane and Prechystivka five times.
Orikhiv direction: The enemy conducted three offensive actions near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne. Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks.
Prydniprovskyi direction: Russia also suffered losses, attacking our positions twice. They used aviation and dropped five KABs on the areas of Sadove and Tyahynka.
"On other directions, the operational situation remains unchanged," the General Staff added.
Situation on the front and Russian losses
According to the General Staff, on August 26, there were 170 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian forces on the front.
Specifically, as noted by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, the situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains complex. There are more than 50 combat engagements there daily.
Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would strengthen the Pokrovsk direction due to the escalating situation on this section of the front.
As of the morning of August 27, the total combat losses of Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine amount to over 610,000 servicemen. In the past 24 hours alone, the invaders lost 1,280 personnel.
