This year, Kyiv has experienced 500 air alerts, during which the Russian army carried out 200 strikes on the capital, states the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko.

According to him, Russian troops used more than 1,600 different types of weapons against peaceful Kyiv:

  • Over 1,300 drones;
  • Over 200 cruise missiles (Kh-101/Kh-59/Kh-69/Iskander-K/Kalibr);
  • 24 ballistic missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23);
  • 22 air-launched ballistic missiles Kinzhal;
  • 7 hypersonic missiles Zircon.

He noted that the most massive attack on Kyiv was a combined strike, during which the enemy used 78 weapons simultaneously, including 49 Kh-101 missiles and 10 air-launched Kinzhal missiles. This year, Kyiv endured 6 massive and 14 combined airstrikes.

In 2024, Russia damaged nearly 550 residential buildings in Kyiv.

Kyiv and region shelling

On the morning of December 20, the Russian army struck Kyiv. After the air alert was announced, several explosions were heard in the capital.

Later, the Kyiv City State Administration released information and images of the damage caused by this attack.

During this attack, the St. Nicholas Church in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv was damaged. The historic building had broken windows, and stained glass windows were shattered.
