Missiles that Russia received from Iran, while not long-range, are highly accurate. Therefore, during the next massive strike by Russia on Ukraine, there is a threat of direct hits on civilian and critical infrastructure, according to military expert, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and reserve major of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksii Hetman, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"We should be concerned. Because these missiles are not long-range, and many people think, 'Well, if they’re not long-range, it’s not as scary for those further from the front line or state borders,'" Hetman said.

On the contrary, he explained that the Russian forces have missiles with shorter ranges, such as the S-300. However, these are not highly accurate and are more for pressuring the civilian population.

"This missile cannot hit accurately. But Iranian missiles are highly accurate, even though they are not long-range. They can achieve precise hits. What can we conclude from this? That during the next massive bombardment, which they do once a month or every month and a half, involving a barrage of over 100 missiles, which they manufacture monthly, there might be an increase in ballistic missile attacks on targets deeper within our country," the expert explained.

According to him, Russian forces previously used Iskanders for precise strikes on border and front-line areas. Now, they might use Iranian missiles.

"This means that the number of Iskanders they used on the border could now be employed on targets deeper within our territory, located 200-300 km from the front line. This implies that there could be more missiles hitting not just the middle of the country but even further," Hetman explained.

Iran has delivered ballistic missiles to Russia

Earlier, the media reported that Russia had received short-range ballistic missiles from Iran.

Yesterday, the EU announced that they had received intelligence confirming the supply of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia.

Today, the US confirmed that Russia received ballistic missiles from Iran. The enemy is likely to use them against Ukraine within the next few weeks.

What is known about the missiles Iran provided to Russia and which regions are at risk is detailed in the RBC-Ukraine material.
