The investigation by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies involving former Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak demonstrates the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions, stated a European Commission spokesperson in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

"This high-level investigation shows that anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine are functioning and carrying out their mandate. The fight against corruption and money laundering is a central element of our enlargement package, which defines our common position on this issue," he stressed.

According to the European Commission spokesperson, the fight against corruption and ensuring the rule of law are key requirements for any country seeking to join the European Union.

"The role of independent anti-corruption institutions, which are cornerstones of Ukraine’s rule of law as a future member state, must be protected. The Commission will continue to closely monitor developments as the situation evolves," he added.

Yermak under suspicion

Charges were brought against former head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office Andriy Yermak by NABU and SAPO in connection with the Dynasty case.

According to investigators, in 2020, former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov decided to build the elite Dynasty residential complex in the village of Kozyn near Kyiv using illegally obtained funds.

Investigators say Chernyshov involved businessman Tymur Mindich as well as former Presidential Office chief Andriy Yermak in the project.

Luxury private homes were built on the territory of the complex.

NABU and SAPO stated that participants in the scheme laundered $8.9 million between 2021 and 2025.

Today, May 12, a court began considering preventive measures against Yermak. The former Presidential Office chief denies all accusations against him.
