US President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will request the supply of Tomahawk missiles on Friday during a meeting in Washington, he said this while speaking to journalists at the White House.

He noted that the US has a large stock of these missiles, but did not specify whether a decision on their supply would be made.

"I know what he has to say, he wants weapons, he would like to have Tomahawks. We have a lot of Tomahawks," Trump said.

Tomahawks for Ukraine

Earlier, Trump stated that the decision to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles had effectively already been made. Commenting on this, Zelenskyy expressed hope that receiving such missiles would help force Russia to "sober up" and return to negotiations.

The Kremlin reacted to this statement with hysteria, calling the possible deliveries a "serious blow to Russian-American relations." Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, claimed that transferring Tomahawks could supposedly "provoke a new escalation," as "these missiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads."

Putin himself, commenting on the situation, promised to strengthen Russia’s air defense system in response to the potential transfer of American long-range missiles to Ukraine.

Moreover, today, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that new announcements regarding arms deliveries to Ukraine through NATO’s PURL program are expected this week. The program involves the purchase of weapons from the US, though it is not yet clear which weapons will be supplied.

This Friday, Zelenskyy is set to travel to Washington to meet with Trump, as "certain details of their conversation cannot be discussed over the phone."
