After negotiations in Geneva, the key conditions of the peace agreement on Ukraine were agreed upon. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the United States is expected at the earliest possible date in November, said National Security and Defense Council Secretary and member of the negotiating delegation Rustem Umerov.
According to Umerov, the Ukrainian and American delegations reached a common understanding regarding the key conditions of the agreement discussed in Geneva.
"We now count on the support of our European partners in the next steps," the National Security and Defense Council Secretary secretary said.
He added that Ukraine expects the organization of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the United States at "the earliest possible date in November" to finalize the remaining stages and reach an agreement with US President Donald Trump.
Negotiations in Geneva and their prerequisites
The United States prepared a peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, which consisted of 28 points, most of which contradict Ukrainian interests.
In particular, the document envisaged reducing the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to 600,000, renouncing NATO membership with this written into the Constitution and the Alliance's Charter, the de facto transfer of Donetsk, Luhansk regions and Crimea to Russia, as well as recognition of the Russian-occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
On November 22, a Ukrainian delegation was formed for negotiations with the United States in Switzerland, led by Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak.
On November 23, the delegation began meetings in Geneva with the American side, represented by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump's advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
After the meeting, the delegations agreed on an updated framework document on peace.
The initial version of the plan, which consisted of 28 points, was reduced to 19 key provisions after discussion.
As RBC-Ukraine found out, the plan removed, in particular, the amnesty issue and the radical reduction of the Ukrainian army.
Final decisions will now be made by the presidents of the United States and Ukraine.
