Russian officials working in the Kremlin will need to find out where the nearest bomb shelter is if their country does not stop the war in Ukraine, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Axios.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine currently has clear support from US President Donald Trump for strikes on Russian targets such as energy infrastructure and arms factories.

Ukrainian President also added that his country would use additional long-range weapons if it receives them from the United States. He did not specify which weapons, only saying that Trump replied to him: “We will work on it.”

Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine will not bomb civilians because “we are not terrorists.” But he suggested that centers of Russian power, such as the Kremlin, could legitimately become targets.

“They have to know where the bomb shelters are. They need it. If they will not stop the war, they will need it in any case. They have to know that we in Ukraine, each day, we will answer. If they attack us, we will answer them,” the Ukrainian President stated.

Strikes on Russia

Russia reports attacks by Ukrainian drones almost daily. Ukraine’s Defence Forces strike facilities that support or enable the occupying army’s operations - in particular fuel depots, refineries, defense factories, strategic enterprises, and logistics hubs.

In November last year, the United States authorized Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike targets on Russian territory. On the night of November 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a military facility in the Bryansk region for the first time.

Later media reported that similar permission was granted by the governments of the United Kingdom and France, whose defense firms produce this type of missile, but limited use to the Kursk region only.

On November 20, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used Storm Shadow in Russian territory for the first time.

However, subsequently, US President Donald Trump said he might revoke the authorization for Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with Western weapons, because that permission had been given by his predecessor, Joe Biden.

In August this year, Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi. They planned new long-range strikes deep into Russian territory.
