Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi. They planned new long-range strikes deep into Russian territory, according to Zelenskyy's statement on Telegram.

The president heard Syrskyi's report on the front line. The main focus was the Pokrovsk sector, where the Russian army is concentrating its greatest efforts and, accordingly, suffering the heaviest losses.

According to the head of state, in just the first eight months of 2025, Russia lost more than 290,000 soldiers killed or severely wounded across the front. The occupiers suffered the greatest losses in the Donetsk region, while failing to achieve any of their strategic objectives.

"On some sections of the front, our stabilization measures are currently underway. I am grateful to every unit that ensures the replenishment of Ukraine's 'exchange fund'; we see the corresponding results weekly," the president added.

Zelenskyy and Syrskyi also analyzed the situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction and the occupiers’ intentions, as well as the situation along the Sumy border and in Kharkiv.

"We will continue our active operations exactly as needed to defend Ukraine. Forces and resources are prepared. We have also planned new deep strikes," he emphasized.

Zelenskyy also acknowledged Ukrainian troops for their performance in combat operations this week:

  • 1st, 33rd, 225th, and 425th assault regiments
  • 79th and 82nd airborne assault brigades
  • 92nd separate assault brigade
  • 414th separate unmanned systems brigade
  • 14th operational assignment brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine
  • Special Operations Forces units

Strikes on Russia

It is worth noting that almost daily there are reports from Russian territory about Ukrainian drone attacks. The defense forces target facilities that assist or operate for the occupying army. This includes oil depots, refineries, defense factories, and other strategic enterprises and logistics facilities.

For example, on the night of August 30, the defense forces attacked two Russian refineries — in Krasnodar and Syzran. Explosions and fires were reported at both sites.

A few days earlier, the Kuybyshev oil refinery in Samara caught fire. Ukrainian troops struck the Kuybyshev refinery as well as the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai.
