Newly elected US President Donald Trump stated during a briefing with journalists that he may revoke permission granted by President Joe Biden allowing Ukraine to use Western weapons for strikes deep inside Russian territory.

According to Trump, the Biden administration should not have allowed Ukraine to strike deep into Russia.

Trump believs that this decision has drawn North Korea into the war against Ukraine. However, media reported on the presence of North Koreans in Russia before the United States authorized long-range strikes against Russia.

Trump further claimed that the involvement of North Korean forces occurred just weeks before his presidency. He emphasized that such a decision should not have been made without consulting him. The President-elect added that he might cancel the approval for deep strikes using Western weapons.

Authorization for long-range missile strikes against Russia

On November 18, the US authorized Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike targets in Russia. On the night of November 19, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a military facility in the Bryansk region for the first time.

It is also known that the Biden administration has authorized the use of Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles containing American components to strike the Russian rear.

According to media reports, the governments of the United Kingdom and France, whose defense companies produce this type of missile, gave a similar permission, but limited its use to the Kursk region.

On November 20, Ukraine used Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian territory for the first time.
