Zelenskyy talks to Polish PM Tusk: What they discussed
On November 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. They agreed to meet, according to Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy thanked the Polish people for their solidarity with Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale invasion and the Prime Minister for his personal principled response to the latest Russian shelling and attempts to end the political isolation of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
Poland's assistance to Ukraine
Zelenskyy and Tusk discussed the continuation of defense cooperation.
“Mr. Prime Minister said that his country is preparing the 45th support package for the transfer and has already begun work on the next defense package,” the president said.
In addition, Zelenskyy and Tusk agreed to hold a meeting by the end of this year.
Discussion of Poland's presidency of the EU Council
Zelenskyy and Tusk also shared their expectations for Poland's presidency of the EU Council in the first half of next year.
“I hope for Poland's support in the negotiation process with the EU on the opening of the first cluster of negotiations and the parallel opening of other clusters,” Zelenskyy added.
Separately, according to the President, he thanked Donald Tusk for using his extensive personal contacts to advocate for Ukraine's accession to NATO and continued defense support for Ukraine.
Meeting between Zelenskyy and Tusk
In early July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Warsaw. There, he met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
During the meeting, Ukraine and Poland signed a security agreement. In addition, following the talks, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine would receive a new military aid package from Poland.
