Ukraine will receive an additional air defense system from the Nordic and Baltic countries ahead of winter, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

He noted that the sides had also discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, as it directly saves lives. Zelenskyy explained that, together with partners from the Nordic and Baltic countries, Ukraine would secure an additional system and protection ahead of winter.

The President stressed that Ukraine needs sufficient capabilities to defend itself from Russian attacks.

He said that Putin was counting on winter to kill Ukrainians in areas his troops could not reach, and emphasized that air defense would play a critical role in preventing this.

Air defense systems for Ukraine

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the transfer of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine through NATO allies.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Berlin was ready to provide two Patriot systems, but only on the condition of quick replacement of the equipment.

On August 1, Germany announced the delivery of two Patriot systems to Ukraine. The first stage involves providing launchers, followed within the next two to three months by the transfer of additional system components.

Norway has also allocated around $700 million for Patriot systems for Ukraine.

In addition, it was recently reported that France and Germany will supply Ukraine with more air defense systems.
