Ukraine and Germany discussed the timelines for the delivery of Patriot air defense systems and the prospects for joint production of weapons. The parties emphasized the importance of timely contract fulfillment, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boiev and Defense Attaché at the Embassy of Germany Colonel Torsten Fries discussed the current status of defense contracts between the countries.

The main topic of the talks was the supply of Patriot air defense systems — conditions, timelines, and priorities for delivery to Ukraine.

The parties also developed mechanisms for establishing direct communication between the ministries of defense for the prompt resolution of issues.

"For Ukraine, time and clarity on deliveries and the fulfillment of agreements are critically important. This allows for precise planning of military operations and protection of the civilian population and infrastructure," said Serhiy Boiev.

During the meeting, they discussed the timelines for fulfilling contracts for the supply of ammunition, missiles for missile defense, and long-range assets, as well as the possibility of continuing and expanding cooperation.

Special attention was paid to the development of joint enterprises, their financing, and the increase of production capacities to support Ukraine’s defense needs.

Patriot for Ukraine

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the transfer of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine at the expense of NATO allies. He stated that Kyiv would receive 17 systems.

At the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format, participants promised assistance in strengthening air defense.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that his country was ready to transfer two Patriot systems. He warned that this would be possible on the condition of their rapid replacement.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans also announced that his country was ready to make a significant contribution to the transfer of American systems to Ukraine.

And on July 22, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Berlin and Norway would make a "significant contribution."
