Zelenskyy says hundreds of Chinese nationals fighting for Russia

At least several hundred Chinese citizens are fighting as part of the Russian forces. It seems that President Vladimir Putin was not satisfied with North Korea alone, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a video address to the participants of the Ramstein meeting.
As Zelenskyy reminded, last week Ukrainian soldiers captured the first Chinese citizens who fought at the front on the side of Russia.
"As of now, we have information that at least several hundred Chinese nationals are fighting as part of Russia’s occupation forces. This means Russia is clearly trying to prolong the war – even by using Chinese lives. Putin wasn’t satisfied with soldiers from North Korea. Now he is trying to cover his shortages by pulling in yet another nation – the Chinese," he said.
The President added that the West should increase joint pressure on Moscow to force Russia to choose peace and diplomacy.
Ramstein meeting
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is taking part in today’s Ramstein meeting, where he will present the country’s most urgent military needs. Zelenskyy urged participants to focus not only on immediate support but also on a long-term security strategy.
Ukrainian forces captured Chinese nationals
In recent days, Ukrainian soldiers captured two Chinese nationals in the Donetsk region. President Zelenskyy later released a video showing the prisoners.
In response, Ukraine summoned China’s chargé d’affaires. The US State Department has also reacted to the incident.
The Security Service of Ukraine has already interrogated the Chinese detainees and identified them by name.
