The outlet ICL Notícias wrote that after Zelenskyy’s appeal, the President of Brazil could call Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to journalists, the Ukrainian president wanted Lula to persuade the head of the Kremlin to personally take part in peace negotiations and agree to a meeting with Zelenskyy and mediators.
At the same time, ICL Notícias noted that, according to the Brazilian government, this request is driven by Kyiv’s inability to find ways and channels for dialogue with Moscow.
In Lithuania, a statement was made regarding peace negotiations with Russia. President Gitanas Nausėda stressed that the aggressor state only responds to positions of strength, so EU countries should first agree on a common stance in order not to repeat past mistakes.
In Russia, the "position of strength" was called Europe’s "biggest mistake," and Ukraine and the West were cynically accused of refusing to compromise. At the same time, the Kremlin announced new strikes on Ukrainian targets.
