Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with US President Donald Trump in Florida on December 28. European partners will join the talks online, he stated this in response to a question from a correspondent.
Zelenskyy noted that he will remain in constant contact with European partners.
"We would like the Europeans to be involved. I’m not sure that within a day we can all gather offline, but at the very least we will connect online, and our partners will be in contact," he said.
At the same time, the president emphasized that, regarding the entire peace process, it is necessary to soon find a format in which not only Ukraine and the US but also Europe will participate.
Europe’s participation in the talks
Ukraine and the US initially discussed Washington’s peace plan in a bilateral format. Ukrainian officials, in particular, traveled several times to negotiations in Miami. The negotiation process also took place in Berlin and Geneva.
The most recent such meeting was held last week, with Ukraine represented by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov.
Sources cited by RBC-Ukraine also noted that national security advisors from the UK, France, and Germany joined the talks.
Western media had circulated rumors that Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani would participate in the negotiations, but this information was not confirmed.
Incidentally, news that Zelenskyy will meet with Trump on December 28 only became known today.
