President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. They discussed joint diplomatic efforts, according to the Ukrainian President.

Zelenskyy noted that they also discussed expectations for the upcoming meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which will take place in Rome in just a few days.

"We are working to ensure the decisions made are as strong as possible. Keir expressed his condolences regarding the recent massive Russian attacks. I thanked him for supporting our people. We also discussed additional funding to be provided this month for Ukraine’s domestic drone production, primarily interceptor drones," the President noted.

He noted that Ukraine and the United Kingdom agreed to work on strengthening other formats of cooperation with key partners as well, including the Ramstein format.

It was previously reported that French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are organizing the next meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. It will take place on July 10.

Coalition of the Willing

The so-called Coalition of the Willing unites countries that are considering the possibility of sending military contingents to Ukraine to deter a renewed Russian aggression. At the same time, as the active phase of the war continues, the actual deployment of European troops to Ukrainian territory is not currently on the table.

As stated by UK Defense Secretary John Healey, the goal of this coalition is to ensure Ukraine's safe skies, safe sea, and security on land and to support Ukrainian defenders.

In May, a meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing took place in Kyiv. Key European politicians arrived in the Ukrainian capital, including Germany’s new Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
