Ukraine has been invited to the NATO summit in The Hague, scheduled for the end of this month, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists.

He clarified that Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will be discussing the infrastructure and possible outcomes of the upcoming summit.

“We had a meeting with NATO Secretary General (Mark Rutte — ed.). We’ve been invited to the NATO summit. I think this is important. Now Minister Sybiha will talk with his colleagues about infrastructure and what results can come from the summit in The Hague,” Zelenskyy said.

Notably, the NATO summit will take place in The Hague on June 24-25.

According to Radio Free Europe, the NATO summit will be shortened from three days to two. This change is due to concerns within the Alliance about a potential new scandal involving US President Donald Trump.

The report recalls the 2018 NATO summit in Brussels during Trump’s first presidential term, where a tense dispute with then-Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg set the tone of the meeting. At that time, Trump even threatened to fully withdraw the US from the military alliance.

To avoid any grounds for conflict at the June summit, the event will be shortened from three days to two. The program hasn’t been finalized yet, but most likely, the first day will feature an official dinner, while the second day will include two working sessions. One will focus on defense spending, and the other on issues related to the development of the defense industry.

Recently, we reported that according to WNL, Trump will be participating in the upcoming meeting. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also received an invitation to the summit.
