Russia lost at least $2.3 billion in the oil sector last month as a result of Ukrainian long-range strikes, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state stressed that Ukraine's "long-range sanctions" are producing results and inflicting a significant economic blow on Russia.
"Russian oil losses from our long-range capabilities are estimated at no less than $2.3 billion in March alone. That's just one month. We are continuing in April," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The president thanked Ukrainian servicemembers for precise strikes and separately praised units of the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, missile brigades, as well as the Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence agencies.
"We will continue our long-range sanctions against Russia for this war," he said.
Strikes on Russian oil refineries
On April 16, the Security Service of Ukraine reported a strike on the Tuapse oil refinery and oil transportation infrastructure facilities in the port of Tuapse. Social media reports indicated that at least two oil storage tanks at the refinery were on fire.
In addition, the Nizhny Novgorod Refinery, the fourth-largest in Russia, suspended operations after a Ukrainian drone attack on April 5.
A series of strikes on key Russian oil terminals in the Baltic Sea caused nearly $1 billion in losses to Russia, only in lost export revenue.
The media also reported that Russia's oil and gas revenues in the first quarter of 2026 fell by almost half compared to the same period last year. Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure are further undermining Russia's export capacities.
