President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on his Twitter that he was glad to hear that United States presidential candidate Donald Trump was safe and unharmed, and emphasized that political violence has no place in the world.

"I am glad to hear that Donald Trump is safe and unharmed. My best wishes to him and his family. It’s good that the suspect in the assassination attempt was apprehended quickly. This is our principle: the rule of law is paramount and political violence has no place anywhere in the world. We sincerely hope that everyone remains safe,” the president wrote.

Shooting near Trump

Yesterday, on September 15, Secret Service agents opened fire on an armed man near the golf club where Trump was visiting. After his arrest, it turned out that the suspect was a US citizen, Ryan Wesley Routh. Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation called the incident " an apparent attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump."

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, warned that Russian propaganda would use the shooting as a campaign against Ukraine and try to spread conspiracy theories about the “Ukrainian connection.”

US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, in turn, also condemned “political violence” and expressed concern about yesterday's situation.
