Yesterday’s attempted assassination of US presidential candidate Donald Trump is set to become a topic for Russian propaganda. The enemy will launch conspiracy theories regarding a "Ukrainian connection," according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

After the attempt on Trump’s life, media attention turned to the fact that the suspect supported Ukraine, the Azov Battalion, and had frequently visited Kyiv. Specifically, he is linked to an organization involved in arms shipments to Ukraine and Taiwan.

"This incident is already becoming a subject for Russian propaganda. The enemy will further spread a series of conspiracy theories about a ‘Ukrainian trace.’ Of course, all of this is false. But information warfare is a component of the broader conflict," Kovalenko explained.

Attempt on Trump

On September 15, near the golf club where the Republican was staying, Secret Service agents reportedly spotted an armed man and opened fire. He was later apprehended and identified as US citizen Ryan Wesley Ruth.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has described the incident as "akin to an attempted murder of former President Trump."

Meanwhile, US Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the political violence and expressed concern over yesterday’s events.
