Ukraine will not recognize occupied territories as part of Russia. It is a red line in any negotiations, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a briefing.

"As for red lines. I, as President, and Ukrainians, as citizens of their country, will not violate their constitution but will defend our sovereignty and our independence, protecting our people and our land. It is very difficult for us to fight against such an enemy, and that is clear," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that Ukraine is fighting for its independence and will not recognize any territories occupied by Russia.

"Our people have fought for this, our heroes have died. There were so many wounded, so many things happened. That is why no one will forget about it. When I say no one will forget, that is the most important red line. We will not allow anyone to forget this crime against Ukraine," the President stated.

Talks to end the war

At the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine and Russia held several rounds of negotiations, but they yielded no results.

Currently, Ukraine and Russia are not engaged in direct peace talks. However, with Donald Trump’s return to the US presidency, negotiations have resumed through shuttle diplomacy.

On February 18, US and Russian delegations met in Saudi Arabia, with the war in Ukraine as the key topic. Yesterday, on March 11, Ukraine and the US also held talks in Saudi Arabia, which lasted eight hours.

As a result of the meeting, the US resumed military aid to Ukraine and restored intelligence-sharing access.

Additionally, the US proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine has supported the proposal, and a decision from Russia is awaited.
