Russian forces today, April 18, launched Iskander cruise missiles at Kharkiv. One must be a real bastard and disregard life to do such a thing on Good Friday, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram channel.

"Work is still underway in Kharkiv after the Russian missile strikes. According to the preliminary data, these were Iskander cruise missiles. One of the missiles exploded in the air right above a residential area, and the other hit the territory of an enterprise near residential buildings," Zelenskyy wrote.

He pointed out that as a result of the strike, residential buildings were damaged, and many people were injured, more than a hundred. According to him, all of them are living their lives in their country, in their city, which makes them targets for Russian missiles.

"One must be a real bastard and disregard life to carry out such missile strikes on an ordinary city on Good Friday, on the eve of Easter. And when we turn to our partners, primarily the United States, for Patriot systems and missiles for them, which could protect against this Russian evil - from cruise missiles, from ballistic missiles - we are asking for protection that every nation deserves," the President emphasized.

He noted that it should not be the case that one nation deserves more help than another.

"And it is a Christian thing to help. Especially when there is such an opportunity to help. And it should not be the case that some terrorist can somehow avoid consequences, even though they destroy lives just as much as others. Russia deserves at least tough sanctions, which are retribution for all that it is doing," Zelenskyy stressed.

The President reminded that today, Ukraine expanded sanctions to nearly a hundred individuals and entities, most of which are involved in manufacturing, including Iskander missiles. Many of these entities are Russian, but some are also from China.

"We will continue working with our partners to ensure our sanctions are synchronized. Everyone who works for killings and prolonging the war must be held accountable. And I thank everyone in the world who supports this position," the head of state added.

Russian missile strike on Kharkiv on Good Friday

This morning, April 18, Russian forces launched ballistic missiles at Kharkiv.

The missiles struck a residential area in the Osnovianskyi district, resulting in a large number of civilian casualties, including children. According to the latest reports, 103 people have been injured.

It is important to note that recently, the Russian forces have been increasingly using ballistic missiles to strike civilian cities. The enemy also uses cluster munitions, which lead to a high number of casualties among civilians.

On April 13, the Russian army attacked Sumy with two ballistic missiles, resulting in 35 deaths.
