Ukraine has imposed sanctions on three Chinese companies following reports of Chinese weapons being supplied to Russia, according to a presidential decree issued by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the decree, the sanctions target:

  • Beijing Aviation And Aerospace Xianghui Technology Co. Ltd. – A company engaged in importing and exporting aerospace-related products. It has supplied Russia with carbon fiber (used in the production of aircraft, drones, missiles, armor, and firearms components) and electronic components.

  • Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Xining Co. Ltd. – One of China’s leading producers of high-performance carbon fiber.

  • Rui Jin Machinery Co. Ltd. – A Chinese manufacturer of various packaging machines.

The decree also tasks Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry with discussing the possibility of similar sanctions with the competent authorities of the European Union, the United States, and other countries.

Chinese weapons supplies to Russia

On April 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that China is supplying weapons to Russia, including gunpowder and artillery.

He also claimed that Chinese representatives are involved in weapons production on Russian territory.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian dismissed Zelenskyy’s remarks as "groundless."

Meanwhile, two Chinese nationals fighting for Russia were recently captured by Ukrainian forces. They claimed they had signed a contract with the Russian military but did not want to be sent to the front lines.
