The head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (RNBO) Rustem Umerov, will continue discussions on US peace initiatives with Washington representatives on December 25. Some documents for the peace agreement are already prepared, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s evening address.

Zelenskyy noted that on December 25, he held an hour-long conversation with the special envoys of US President Donald Trump — former realtor Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

"And it was truly a good conversation: many details, there are good ideas, and we discussed them. We also have some new ideas on how to bring real peace closer, regarding formats, meetings, and, of course, timing," he said.

Zelenskyy added that on December 25, RNBO Secretary Rustem Umerov will continue negotiations with the US team. An important point, Zelenskyy noted, is that some documents for the peace agreement are already prepared.

"I see that they are almost fully ready — some documents are already prepared. Of course, sensitive issues still require work. But together with the US team, we understand how to ensure everything," he added.

Zelenskyy also announced "intense" weeks in diplomatic terms and thanked the US and everyone who continues to put pressure on the Russian regime. The Kremlin must understand that prolonging the war will end badly for Russia, the Ukrainian president concluded.

Zelenskyy had earlier written that he held a phone conversation with US President Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff and the US leader’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. At that time, he also said the conversation was "good."

Previously, on December 24, Zelenskyy for the first time revealed the content of a peace plan consisting of 20 points.

Trump’s team believes that achieving peace in Ukraine is supposedly entirely possible within the next 90 days. However, the Kremlin has a different view — the Russian regime will demand changes to the latest version of the US peace plan. Although on December 25, the Kremlin was forced to admit that, regarding the peace process, there is allegedly "slow progress."
