Zelenskyy names new city as venue for potential talks with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected Vladimir Putin’s proposal to travel to Moscow for talks on a diplomatic resolution to the war in Ukraine and instead invited the Russian President to come to Kyiv, reports ABC News.
“He can come to Kyiv. I can't go to Moscow when my country's under missiles, under attack, each day. I can't go to the capital of this terrorist,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the Ukrainian president, Putin’s proposal was actually aimed at postponing the meeting.
“If a person doesn't want to meet during the war, of course, he can propose something which can’t be acceptable by me or by others,” Zelenskyy remarked.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on September 3 that he does not rule out a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but for that, Zelenskyy would have to come to Moscow if he is ready to hold the talks.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump emphasized that he remains committed to pursuing a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, despite increasing uncertainty on the issue. However, the leaders are not yet ready for a summit.
In an interview, Trump described his stance on the negotiations as realistic and optimistic and added that he is closely monitoring how both sides are navigating the challenges on the path to talks.
