Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he "does not rule out" a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. But for this, Zelenskyy, he said, must come to Moscow. The Russian president announced this during a press conference on September 3.

In particular, he stated that he does not rule out the possibility of a meeting with Zelenskyy, but he does not know "whether there is any sense" in it.

"As for meetings with Zelenskyy, I did not rule out such meetings, is there any sense in these meetings?" he said.

Putin also added that Zelenskyy allegedly must come to Moscow if he is "ready" for the meeting.

"If Zelenskyy wants, if he is ready, let him come to Moscow, we will meet," the Russian president stated.

Meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin

On August 18, US President Donald Trump reported that after a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin he began preparations for a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.

However, Russia continues to delay the meeting and put forward conditions. Thus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that such negotiations require careful preparation. In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that it is Russia that is blocking the holding of this meeting.

Recently, Trump himself expressed doubts about a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, but in his opinion, trilateral negotiations will still take place. Meanwhile, the Kremlin once again tried to shift responsibility for the war onto Europe and Ukraine.
