Moscow invents new excuse for Putin dodging Zelenskyy meeting

In Russia, they invented a new excuse why dictator Vladimir Putin is fleeing from a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This time, Moscow blamed Western countries, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Lavrov attacked with accusations against Western countries, which allegedly are hindering negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
"They (Western countries – ed.) are just looking for a pretext so that negotiations do not take place. And they want it to happen not through their fault, not through the fault of Zelenskyy, who also ‘resists’ and puts forward some conditions, demanding an immediate meeting with Putin regardless of anything," said Lavrov.
The head of the Russian MFA claims that Western countries are trying "to disrupt the process, which in general was initiated by Putin and Trump, which gave very good results." According to him, Moscow hopes that "these attempts will be thwarted."
Meeting of Zelenskyy and Putin
After negotiations with Zelenskyy and European leaders on August 18, US President Donald Trump called Putin. He agreed to a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but Russia first wants to hold a meeting in a bilateral format.
As the American leader noted, the summit of Zelenskyy and Putin may take place within the next few weeks.
Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz expressed doubt that the Russian leader would dare to meet with Zelenskyy. The President of Finland also believes that the summit will not take place before the end of August.
In Russia, they are already inventing excuses why Putin will not meet with Zelenskyy. Moscow says that for the meeting, it is necessary "to work out the issues well."
