Zelenskyy discusses continuation of assistance to Ukraine with Czech president

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Czech President Petr Pavel. They discussed the continuation of military assistance to Ukraine, according to the president’s Telegram channel.
"Czechia has strongly supported Ukraine and our people from the very beginning of this full-scale war. We appreciate all the assistance provided, and today we discussed its continuation," Zelenskyy said.
He informed Pavel about Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and communities.
The presidents also discussed the Czech initiative to supply artillery shells.
"There are also other ideas that will help strengthen Ukraine and our defense right now. We agreed that our teams will work on everything promptly. Thank you!" Zelenskyy added.
Aid to Ukraine from Czechia
Elections to the lower house of parliament – the Chamber of Deputies – were held in Czechia on October 3–4.
With more than 97% of votes counted, the ANO party led by former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš won the election.
Andrej Babiš has repeatedly criticized the Czech artillery ammunition initiative for Ukraine.
Moreover, according to him, it should be cancelled.
At the same time, Czech President Petr Pavel believes that Czechia cannot halt its ammunition initiative for Ukraine, as this would lead to serious consequences.
In his opinion, if Czechia cancels the initiative, it would "primarily harm itself." In addition, there would be negative consequences for Ukraine, where even more people could be killed.
On October 8, Babiš made a loud statement regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine and promised "not to give Ukraine a single crown for weapons."
The next day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Babiš.
During the conversation, he informed his counterpart about Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts to achieve a just peace together with the US, Europe, and other countries, as well as about the overall diplomatic situation.
