If the Czech government is formed under the leadership of the election-winning ANO party, no state budget funds will be allocated for weapons for Ukraine, according to ANO party leader Andrej Babiš.

During a press conference on Wednesday, October 8, Babiš commented on his stance regarding the ammunition initiative for Ukraine.

"If we are in government, we will tell Czech arms factories: do you want to export weapons to Ukraine? We have no problem with that," his statement reads.

Babiš emphasized that Czechia contributes "60 billion to the EU budget," which provides aid to Ukraine.

"We will not give Ukraine a single crown for weapons from the budget. We don't have enough money for the Czech Republic itself. I think we have already helped Ukraine directly, and now assistance will be provided through the EU," he said.

Previously, Andrej Babiš repeatedly criticized the Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine, saying it should be canceled.

Meanwhile, Czech President Petr Pavel believes that Prague cannot stop its ammunition initiative for Ukraine, as doing so would have serious consequences.

According to him, if Czechia withdraws from the initiative, it would primarily harm itself. He added that it would also have negative consequences for Ukraine, where even more people could die.
